These seem to be continuing to exist. We get the sensational headline about a hate crime… then it comes out as a hoax, and there is little fanfare. So even though I am starting this thread today, I will go back and retrieve prior hoaxes as well.

I am against all things Cowboys, but Jerry Jones is on the money.
2017/10/22 – Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says the NFL is being damaged by protests – Dallas Star-Telegram
“There is no question the league is suffering negative effects from these protests,” Jones said.
Jones was more expansive than he’s ever been regarding an acknowledgment of the concerns of the players, who are protesting racism and social injustice. He said the league can’t help in those areas in a meaningful way if it is damaged.
Jones said the players he talked to all know the NFL is being damaged. He said the Cowboys sponsors have expressed “concerns” about the anthem protests and damage to the league.
“All times, I want to do the right thing by them and their customers,” Jones said. “I have a great responsibility to the people who support us. We all get great benefits from having a lot of people watch our games. All of us do.”

Santa Is a Gay Man in an Interracial Relationship in This New Picture Book
The book, Santa’s Husband, goes on sale Oct. 10 and tells the story of a black Santa Claus and his white husband who both live in the North Pole. Santa’s spouse frequently fills in for his husband at malls, according to a description of the book Harper Design provided to TIME.
Daniel Kibblesmith, who is a staff writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and co-author of How to Win at Everything, penned the parody children’s book after tweeting in December that he would only tell his future child Santa was black. “If they see a white one, we’ll say ‘That’s his husband,’” Kibblesmith wrote.
Harper Design said the book is meant for all ages.
There are no sacred cows with liberalism.
It’s one thing to except different lifestyles as part of society.
It’s another to make every single facet of society conform to a lifestyle.
This is a “parody children’s book”. Children who still believe in Santa, probably won’t understand the parody – if there is any.

Colin Kaepernick won’t protest during national anthem during 2017 season – USA Today
Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest won’t carry over into next season, USA TODAY Sports confirmed Thursday.
He will discontinue his public protest in 2017, wherever he plays next season, a person with knowledge of Kaepernick’s plans told USA TODAY Sports’ Tom Pelissero.
The person requested anonymity because Kaepernick has not yet made his decision public.
Probably a good business decision on his part. Other things can be done to help the situation.

Black Republican father-daughter electors will vote with pride: ‘I make no apologies’
A black Republican father-daughter duo will make history when they cast their electoral votes for Donald Trump on Monday.
Kelly Mitchell and her father, Henry Hatter, are members of Michigan’s Electoral College. They are among the few African-American Republican electors in the nation, and a rare father-daughter duo.
Mitchell dismisses critics who suggest she’s betraying her race by supporting Trump. “I don’t really worry about what other people who say to me about race or how I should vote,” Mitchell told the Associated Press. “It’s been what’s right for and worked for me. I make no apologies.”
Both Kelly Mitchell and Henry Hatter have met Trump and are HOPEFUL and confident he will do great things. “Despite his imperfections (people) will find that his policies will benefit the majority of Americans,” Kelly said.
Her dad agreed. “People are always listening for a knock in the engine instead of how smoothly the engine runs,” said Hatter, 80.
I love the last statement.
I can’t imagine what they have been through for the last 40 days. They represent the strength that builds nations.

Norman Lear Sitcoms ‘All in the Family,’ ‘The Jeffersons’ Being Eyed by Sony for Reboots
Sony Pictures Television is in very early stages of rebooting several classic sitcoms from TV legend Norman Lear as miniseries — including “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” and “Good Times” — Variety has learned exclusively.
The idea currently being discussed by Lear and Sony executives would be to have new actors recreate classic episodes of the shows, working from the original scripts, and package them as short, six-episode anthologies. The scripts would be treated similar to plays being mounted in new productions.
“There is some talk about doing some of the original shows, redoing them with today’s stars,” Lear told Variety. “There is a possibility that we’ll do ‘All in the Family,’ ‘Maude,’ ‘The Jeffersons,’ “Good Times.’”
Interesting… I wonder what the driving motivation is for this. If you are familiar with the shows mentioned, they all have a similar underlying theme (not the main theme)… racial tension. Also, with the exception of Maude, all of those shows have strong men with strong opinions. Maude could fit in that category as well because she had strong opinions.
Hopefully my instincts are wrong and we will not continue to turn the clock back on racial relations.

Jury Finds Dylann Roof Guilty In S.C. Church Shooting
A jury in Charleston, S.C., has found Dylann Roof guilty on all 33 counts of federal hate crimes he faced for murdering nine people and attempting to kill three others in the basement of a historically black church.
Federal prosecutors are seeking a death sentence. Roof has asked to represent himself in the penalty phase of the trial, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 3.
Roof entered Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston on the evening of June 17, 2015, and, for nearly an hour, sat among a dozen people at a Bible study before opening fire during the worshippers’ final prayer.
Good. This should have been done long ago.
