30 killed, 50 injured in Kabul hospital attack – Pajhwok Afghan News
At least 30 people, including doctors and patients, were killed and 50 more wounded after gunmen dressed as medics stormed a military hospital in Kabul on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri, a MoD spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News first a suicide bomber detonated his payload at the southern gate of the 400-bed military hospital at around 9am, allowing three other attackers to enter the hospital’s 2nd and 3rd floor.
Islamic State operatives claimed responsibility for the attack. “This egregious and morally reprehensible attack targeted people at their most vulnerable,” said Pernille Kardel, the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and acting head of UNAMA.
